Why Charlotte’s Whisper
My mothers name was Charlotte Jones Parks, through her I learned death is a transition in our life cycle that we all have to go through, it is the one thing that is expected of us that we can all deliver. I can look to the past now and fully embrace the love and wisdom that her 30 year dance with illness gifted me. Each time she went into the hospital there was a new emotional trauma that added to our collective grief and her pain. We always felt death was near and therefore did not have fear of the transition, but lived in a state of anticipatory grief. My life experience lead me to continue to care for others as a nurse.
I am from the Des Moines area and went to college in Springfield Il where I received my Nursing Degree. I have worked in ICU, Hospice and Transitional Care and the one thing that remained constant is my passion for End of Life Care and those in transition. I love providing the comfort, the ear, the guidance for the family. While caring for others I also saw the adverse effects of pain medication and felt there has to be a better way. Finally legislation is catching up to science and Cannabis is becoming more recognized as an option to help people not just at the end-of-life but on a daily basis. This made the decision to become a Cannabis Nurse very easy me as it gives people a different choice in their care. Now I can help educate and guide people with that journey as well.
My mission as a member of The Hive Collective is to help the dying by giving voice to their wishes and their legacy during and after their transition. To hold space for the whole person as to better listen and help guide them on their journey with Cannabis whether it is for wellness or to give quality of life during transition.
